The Position

With a dual report to the President and the Vice President for Student Services, the Dean of Admissions is a senior manager within the Division of Student Services and is responsible for the overall planning, management, and administration of the Office of Admissions. In addition to the University President, the Dean serves as primary speaker for major events and must be a highly accomplished speaker who is motivational, articulate and energetic. The Dean provides leadership and direction to recruitment and marketing initiatives and has primary responsibility for developing strategies to attract, recruit, and enroll a diverse student body that supports the overall mission and enrollment goals of the University. The Dean of Admissions assists with the development of the enrollment management plan; provides leadership and supervision to a staff of 21; and manages an annual operating budget of approximately $1.7 million. Key priorities for the next Dean of Admissions include the following: Create and implement recruitment plans that take full advantage of available technologies, expand recruitment markets, utilize systems that increase applicant yield, and develop collaborative relationships with CNU stakeholders to meet enrollment goals. CNU is a Banner institution.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must possess a bachelor's degree plus related experience that equates to an advanced degree, a master's degree is preferred, and progressively responsible experience in managing a recruitment and admissions program. A hands-on management style coupled with the ability to train, develop, motivate, and mentor staff; strong presentation skills, competency in building and analyzing recruitment-related data and assessing programming activities; a strong understanding of the innovative uses of technology in the recruitment process; creativity and strong interpersonal skills; the ability to work collaboratively with student financial services and other offices within the student services division; and strong budget oversight skills will be essential for the new Dean of Admissions.
