Ophelie Rowe Allen
Dean of Students
Dr. Rowe-Allen joined University of New Haven in July as the dean of students and chief student affairs officer after 13 years at Fairfield University, where she served as the associate dean of students and director of residence life, associate dean of assessment, and director of student diversity and multicultural affairs.
She served as the associate dean of students and director of residence life, associate dean of assessment, and director of student diversity and multicultural affairs. She has led many key initiatives such as the developing residential living and learning programs, including the Sophomore Residential College at Fairfield University. Ophelie’s main interests are on staff development and creating holistic approaches for student success focusing on equity, diversity and inclusion. Prior to her work at Fairfield University, Dr. Rowe-Allen began her career in higher education in residence life at Miami International University Art & Design. She has served as an adjunct professor and lecturer at the University of Bridgeport, Miami International University Art & Design, and Fairfield University. Dr. Rowe-Allen holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in mental health counseling from St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida. She received her educational doctorate in counseling education and supervision from Argosy University in Washington, DC.
