Associate Vice President Student Affairs
Sharron Evans, J.D., serves as the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at Iowa State University. In this role, Evans leads the following departments under the Dean of Students Office: Academic Success Center; Center for LGBTQIA+ Student Success; Hixson Opportunity Awards; International Students and Scholars Office; Margaret Sloss Center for Women and Gender Equity; Office of Multicultural Student Affairs; National Student Exchange; Parent and Family Programs; Office of Sorority and Fraternity Engagement; Student Accessibility Services; Office of Student Assistance; Office of Student Conduct; Student Legal Services; Student Support Services (TRIO); Veterans Center; and Writing and Media Center.
Prior to coming to Iowa State, Evans was a private practice attorney and higher education consultant. Evans is the former Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students at Roosevelt University in Chicago.
Evans holds a bachelor’s degree (1993) in criminal justice sciences, with a minor in psychology and master’s degree (1997) in education from Illinois State University, Normal, Illinois, and a juris doctor (2013), from University of Illinois at Chicago John Marshall Law School, Chicago, Illinois.
