Dr. Julie Leos is a search consultant who joined the team after nearly a 20 year career in higher education as a student affairs and student housing administrator. Julie is a trusted student success professional with a gained philosophy that students can succeed with the right environment and appropriate advocates. Julie partners with organizations to place top talent into roles that can strengthen higher education, student affairs, and the student experience.

Julie is an educator first and foremost; she has served as faculty for the American College Personnel Association’s (ACPA) Institute for the Curricular Approach (ICA), ACUHO-I’s National Housing Training Institute, and NASPA’s Undergraduate Student Conference among others. Notably, Julie previously served on The Placement Exchange Committee (TPE) as the chair for the Candidate Development committee.

Julie has a track record of success as a leader, practitioner, and innovative thought partner. She has led highly regarded teams to meet the shifting needs of campuses, staff and students. Julie has prioritized a career of service to higher education outside of her on campus roles. For the past 10 years Julie has served the Association of college and University Housing Officers – International (ACUHO-I) as a leader within committees and as chair for the Women in Housing Network. She has written for the ACUHO-I quarterly publication, as well as served on important task forces to move the association forward. From 2020 – 2022 Julie served on the ACUHO-I Executive board as the Regional Affiliations Director.

Prior to joining Spelman Johnson Julie served as Assistant Dean and Executive Director for Residential Education at the University of South Florida – Tampa campus. Julie has also served the students and staff of the University of Michigan, the University of Arizona, Florida State University, Naropa University, and Florida International University.

As a scholar-practitioner, Julie built and sustained partnerships with faculty, staff, alumni, and administrators from across the campuses to create innovative practices to boost student success over the years. Julie has played an integral role to mitigate risk and manage student and environmental crises. Julie’s focus on equity and inclusion, employee engagement, and using data to inform practice and policy will bring a unique perspective to the firm.

Julie earned her Bachelors and Master’s Degree from Florida International University, and a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of South Florida. Julie is a proud Texan and is based out of Seguin, Texas.
